Miss Something? |

As in
years past, we get asked about an old news article or pictures
(the Halloween costume pictures are quite popular) that were
posted on the News and Announcements page from time to time.
The ease of
access to those old articles is continuing with the 2008 News
and Announcements Archival page that was updated through out
last year. And at the top of the 2008 archival page is a
link to the 2007 archival page. Click here, on the picture on the
right, or on the link at the top of this page to see the
2008 News archives. An archival page for 2009 will be built and
made available as soon as practical.

SecureCode |
|
SecureCode is a service offered by Security Federal that
provides greater peace of mind when you shop on line by
providing added protection against unauthorized use of your
debit card. Once you've registered and created a SecureCode,
each time you make an online purchase, a window will pop up
asking for your SecureCode, just like using a PIN at the ATM.
When you correctly enter your SecureCode, it confirms that you
are the authorized cardholder and your purchase is completed. No
code, no confirmation, no purchase.
|
|
You can reference the SecureCode Frequently Asked Questions
(FAQ) and register your card with SecureCode by
clicking here or on the picture to the left. Otherwise, you
will have an opportunity to register when you are making your
next online purchase.

Sandra VanHooser started with Security Federal back in
1991 as a Part Time Clerk but was moved over to be a Teller
pretty quickly. She became a Loan Processor, then a Mortgage
Loan Originator, then a Mortgage Loan Closer, and then she did
mortgage underwriting. Now she has been promoted to Vice
President of Secondary Lending. Sandra is married, has two
girls, and is active in the Centertown Elementary PTO.
Meredith Woodlee began her career with Security Federal
in July of 2004 as a Teller. She was made Head Teller of the
New Smithville Highway Branch in 2006 and now she has been
promoted to Assistant Branch Manager of the New
Smithville Highway Branch. She’s married with two girls and
enjoys going to games to watch her daughter as an Eastside
Bulldog cheerleader.
Kari Davis
started out as a Teller in November of 2000 and has served as a
New Accounts Representative and a Loan Processor. In May of
2006 she became the Assistant Branch Manager for the New Smithville
Highway branch. In 2008, she became a Certified Community Bank
Compliance Officer and in 2009 became a Loan Officer as well.
She is currently attending Motlow State Community College and
will be graduating in May of 2009 with an Associates Degree in
Business Management. Now that she has moved out to the
Manchester Highway Branch, Kari is the Branch
Manager/Assistant Vice-President. Kari has two boys and is
a member of the Morrison Ruritans.
Congratulations to these three fine young ladies!

The Big Event
Is Coming |
|
The annual Relay for Life fund raising event held to generate
cancer research money for the American Cancer Society will be held this coming
weekend, June 5th and 6th at Nunley
Stadium by the Warren County Middle School. This year's
theme is "Welcome Back To The 1980's". In keeping with
the purpose, Team Security Federal has chosen to be the Cancerbusters.
Thus far, the Cancerbusters have raised over $18,000 and we're
planning on adding to that. At the Security Federal booth,
Michael will be dressing up again (great photo opportunity for
friends and enemies) and
we will have face painting and cold drinks and hamburgers and
nachos with cheese and hotdogs and chili dogs and chips
and...the list goes on.
For those that have never attended, Relay for Life is not just
another fund raiser. It is an event to be experienced.
There are activities everywhere, there is always something to
do, and there are tons of people you know. And, more
importantly, it's to help those in your community, your friends,
maybe even your relatives. So, come on down and have a big
time...and help out people.
For more information, contact Lisa Hillis or Sherry Clendenon of Security Federal Savings Bank at 931-473-4483.

Great Gourds! |
|
Security Federal Savings Bank don't play around when it comes to
Halloween.
So was the case with an employee pumpkin decorating contest we
held on Monday, October 19th to get this year's
holiday season off to a big bag (winners to be announced soon).
And the competition was fierce...click
here or on the Jack-O-Lantern on the right to see
pictures of the amazing concepts and applications by our very
imaginative employees.
Also, our employee Halloween costumes have
garnered quite a bit of attention for the past few years and
there have been many requests for those pictures. To the
point that a Halloween Costume Links page has been created to
make it easier to find your favorites from Halloweens gone by.
Just click here or on the link at
the top of this page to go to those links.

Modern
Convenience |
|
Security Federal was happy to work with the great folks over at Motlow
State Community College to get a cash dispenser installed at the facility.
This gives the staff, faculty, and students the convenience of
accessing their accounts without having to leave campus.
And there has been quite a bit of interest in the cash dispenser
as several folks there have already made wonderful comments about
getting the machine in place.
If you are a student or a member of the staff or faculty
and don't currently have an account with Security Federal, you
can still use the cash dispenser with a minimal service charge.
If you would like to open an account with us to save that fee,
please stop by one of our three full service locations on Main
Street, New Smithville Highway, or Manchester Highway.

Phishing Alert |
|
There is a new
phishing scam claiming to be from the Federal Deposit Insurance
Corporation (FDIC) and is trying to get peoples' personal
information. The fraudulent e-mail appears to be from "consumeralerts@fdic.gov"
and the subject of the e-mail is "you need to check your Bank
Deposit Insurance Coverage". The e-mail also includes a
link to a counterfeit site. When the link is clicked, the
user is taken to a site similar to the FDIC page, and is asked
to verify personal information. To make matters worse, when the
link is clicked, the page also automatically downloads at least
two malicious pieces of software.
If you receive this fraudulent e-mail, DO NOT click on
any of the links...just simply delete the e-mail.
For more information about protecting yourself, please visit our
Customer Awareness page.

Trickin' and
Treatin' |

Like last year, Security Federal employees had a luncheon to
raise money for Kids Of The Community so we can sponsor a child for Christmas. So we did
it again this year...and we raised enough to sponsor two
children! Thanks to everyone that helped out and had lunch
with us!
And, of course, there were costumes too.

SecureCode
Requirement |
|
SecureCode is a service that has been offered by Security Federal
on a voluntary basis that
provides greater peace of mind when you shop on-line by
providing added protection against unauthorized use of your
debit card. Once you've registered and created a SecureCode,
each time you make an on-line purchase, a window will pop up
asking for your SecureCode, just like using a PIN at the ATM.
When you correctly enter your SecureCode, it confirms that you
are the authorized cardholder and your purchase is completed. No
code, no confirmation, no purchase.
Starting in mid-January, SecureCode will be required for
Security Federal debit cards when used for on-line purchases. You can reference the SecureCode Frequently Asked Questions
(FAQ) and register your card with SecureCode by
clicking here or on the picture above. Otherwise, you
will have an opportunity to register when you are making your
next online purchase.

Two of Security Federal's favorites hit a magic number
recently...and you know we just couldn't let it slip by
unnoticed. Teresa Hennessee, New Accounts
Officer/Vice-President and Ken Smith, Senior Vice-President
Trust/Investment Officer made the leap to 60 years young this
month and we had a little party in their honor.

get together.
From all of us at Security Federal...Happy Birthday, kids.
